Une femme d\u2019origine syro-libanaise, nomm\u00e9e Badia Masabni entrepris d\u2019ouvrir\u00a0le plus grand casino au Caire, le \u00ab Casino-Opera \u00bb, offrant des spectacles de qualit\u00e9 \u00e0 un public colonial, touristique, et \u00e0 l\u2019aristocratie \u00e9gyptienne<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Badia Masabni envisagea de d\u00e9velopper une danse plus sophistiqu\u00e9e, et plus raffin\u00e9e que la danse des ghawazi et des alm\u00e9es, en utilisant des \u00e9l\u00e9ments nouveaux tel un d\u00e9cor somptueux, une plus large utilisation de l\u2019espace, un\u00a0vocabulaire technique plus riche<\/strong>, (inspir\u00e9 du folklore ainsi que des bases de danse classique) l\u2019introduction du voile et du costumes deux pi\u00e8ces \u00e0 sequins, inspir\u00e9s tous deux du style hollywoodien.<\/p>\n

Ainsi na\u00eet le\u00a0Raks Sharki, que l\u2019on traduit par \u00ab danse orientale \u00bb<\/strong>, danse inspir\u00e9e de l\u2019orient et de l\u2019occident, beaucoup plus riche et plus technique son anc\u00eatre \u00ab raks baladi \u00bb (danse populaire ou citadine).<\/p>\n

Les ann\u00e9es 30-40 constitueront l\u2019age d\u2019or de la danse orientale en Egypte.\u00a0De c\u00e9l\u00e8bres artistes comme Samia Gamal<\/a> et Taheya Carioca<\/a> firent leurs premiers pas au \u00ab Casino-Opera \u00bb et rendirent c\u00e9l\u00e8bres la danse orientale \u00e9galement gr\u00e2ce aux com\u00e9dies musicales.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Le \u00ab Casino-Opera \u00bb \u00e9taient un passage oblig\u00e9 qui permettait \u00e0 toute danseuse, chanteur ou musicien d\u2019atteindre une certaine notori\u00e9t\u00e9.
